Samoan international breaks club record in 110-point victory

Half-back Mason Lino starred with 38 points in the Wakefield Trinity’s 110 to nil victory over the Newcastle Thunder.

Former Toa Samoa International Mason Lino broke a club record for the Wakefield Trinity, scoring a record 38 points in a single game.

Lino scored three tries and converted 13 goals in Wakefield's thrashing against the Newcastle Thunder, in the 1895 Cup Competition.

Wakefield led 64 to nil at half-time, and in the 60th minute a Lino conversion bought the score to 100. The Trinity was relegated from Super League last year after finishing in last place.

The side will now play the Barrow Raiders in the quarter finals in March.

Mason Lino’s experience

Before being a star for the Wakefield Trinity, Lino had a decorated career in the NRL’s under-20s competition. Lino signed with the Junior Warriors in 2012, and in 2013 scored 147 points for the club.

Lino co-captained the Junior Warriors Holden Cup team, who won their competition against the Brisbane Broncos. He finished his Holden Cup career with 503 points from 62 appearances.

Lino would make his debut for Toa Samoa in a match against Fiji in Apia. In 2018, Lino moved up to the top-side, making eight appearances for the Warriors in the 2018 season, before signing with the Newcastle Knights where he spent two seasons.

Since 2021, Lino has appeared in nearly every game for the Yorkshire based club, with 296 points to his name.
